Steve Criner Steve Criner of Bolivar, MO has been hunting for over twenty years. He started hunting deer and turkeys at a young age and quickly became interested in calling wild animals. Some of his fondest memories are of running around the country side chasing deer, turkeys, and squirrels with his grandfather as a young boy. His early start hunting and calling wildlife sparked a huge addiction to predator calling. He called his first fox at the age of 16 with a Johnny Stewart Jackrabbit in Distress tape and his first coyote with the Johnny Stewart 512 and Cottontail in Distress tape shortly thereafter. Steve’s passion for predator hunting has been an immense and trying journey because there were no predator hunting seminars and no internet available in the area where he grew up. He had to learn on his own and overcome the huge learning curve that new predator callers encounter. This fueled his enthusiasm to teach new callers through video productions and writing outdoor articles that have been featured in some of industry's top predator hunting magazines. Steve was given the opportunity to be a field pro staff member in the spring of 2007 for Hunter's Specialties and has since become a full time Pro Staff member. Since joining the H.S. team he conducts seminars all over the country and films for the Operation Predator video series. During Steve's career as a predator hunter he has spent most of his time hunting in the Midwest . He has logged as many as 200 days calling in just one year and has called in as many as 76 coyotes in Missouri in one season. He also hunts in several different coyote hunting contests, such as the St. Francis and has a top 10 finish under his belt at the World Championships. Steve has also been featured on numerous radio and outdoor TV shows such as H.S. Outdoors and Babe Winkleman’s Outdoor Secrets. |
