John Vaca

John Vaca began hunting at the age of 18, and was guiding professionally by the age of 21. Having run his own guide service for 17 years, John gained an intimate working knowledge of the sport of waterfowl hunting and calling. He decided that this was the way in which he wanted to spend his life, working in the field he loved most- water fowling.

John started contest goose calling in 1998 and continues to compete regularly. With several Championships to his credit, including the 2007 Ducks Unlimited Canada Goose Championship, 2007 Ducks Unlimited Team Duck, Missouri Sumner Open Championship, Kansas Grand Slam Open Goose Championship, Rocky Mountain Team Championship, 2006 North Star Team Championship, and many top 5 finishes on the professional calling circuit including a top 3 finish in the 2004 US OPEN.

John is a full-time employee for Bushnell/Final Approach where he is the National Pro Staff Manager and Outdoor Promotions Coordinator.

John is also a Pro Staff member for: Foiles Migrators, Pattern Master Choke Systems, Bushnell Optics, Realtree Camouflage, Winchester Arms, Rivers West Clothing, Fox Mud Motors and several other nationally known companies.

John has held hunting permits in 7 Canadian provinces and 25 States, hunting as many as 10 states in a season.

John continues to conduct hunting seminars and promotions all over North America and Canada. He regularly conducts seminars at venues such as Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops, Sportsmans Warehouse, and speaks at the various National and International Hunting events across the country, including SCI, ISE, DU Canada and Delta Waterfowl.

John spends countless hours participating in hunting clinics and programs geared towards kids and single parent families in the outdoors.

He has also appeared in and contributed to over 40 national magazines, including Wildfowl, Outdoor Life, Waterfowl Hunter, Waterfowl and Retriever, Ducks Unlimited, and Sports Afield to name a few.

Having been involved with making instructional tapes and video productions such as Realtree’s Falling Skies 4, 5, and 6, Take‘Em 2, 3, 4, and 5 from Hunters Specialties, two Babe Winkleman Outdoor Adventures Shows, Backstage and Back Roads with Daniel Lee Martin, Straight Talk Goose CD, and the Fowl Play (1, 2, 3, 4) Video Series by Buck Gardner Calls, John has become a household name to waterfowl hunters worldwide.
